Allen & Thurber Pepperbox Pistol, #41, .31 cal., 3-1/8'' barrel group, originally blue and case hardened finish with light foliate engraving, bag-shaped walnut grips. This particular standard-size version features smooth contoured barrels and nipple shield to upper right side of frame. Barrels are marked ''Allen Thurber & Co. Worcester/Patented 1845''. Condition is about fine with little original finish remaining, mostly to barhammer and trigger. Bag-shaped grips with minor losses of varnish and oil darkening. Good functioning action, with crisp engraving; bores are very good. Est.: $1,500-$2,000. (Antique)
